The Boeing 777 airplane with its 155 passengers and 7 crew members departed from Surabaya, Indonesia bound for Singapore early this morning only to disappear 42 minutes into the flight. Indonesian officials have indicated that they believe QZ8501 is likely at the bottom of the sea. If this is true, 2014 will have proven to be one of the deadliest years in recent civil aviation history, according to Business Insider.

FAA Issues Airworthiness Directive for Robinson Helicopter Company

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued an Airworthiness Directive (AD) concerning the main rotor blades on multiple models of helicopters manufactured by Robinson Helicopter Company. At issue is debonding and corrosion on the main rotor blades of Robinson R22, R22 Alpha, R22 Mariner, R44 and R44 II models, which has led to a number of catastrophic crashes.

NTSB Recommends Stronger Certification Requirements for Lithium-Ion Batteries in Wake of Battery Fire at Logan Airport

Officials recently wrapped up their investigation into the incident, which occurred on January 7, 2013 at Boston Logan International Airport.
