Navy Members Performing Training Mission Die in Jet Crash

Earlier this week, three members of the U.S. Navy were killed while they were performing a training mission in the Pacific Northwest. The individuals were Navy fliers who were on the same EA-6B Prowler when their jet crashed during the training mission. The crash was catastrophic. Debris was left scattered in a field and no one on the jet survived.

The Los Angeles Times reported that the fatal airplane crash occurred on Monday morning in the state of Washington. The names and ages of the victims have not yet been released. Authorities reported that the victims' families are being notified before any other details are reported. Authorities did report that no civilians were injured when the plane crashed.

A member of the House Transportation Committee commented on the crash stating that it is a tragic reminder of the dangers service members face each day. But as our blog's readers know all too well, some of the dangers Navy fliers and other pilots face may be prevented.

No other details about what may have caused the accident have been reported, but a thorough investigation will be conducted in order to determine what happened while the Navy fliers were performing their training mission. Investigators will try to determine whether the jet's pilot made a fatal error while performing the training mission. Investigators will also try to determine whether any parts on the plane were defective or whether the Navy knowingly put the crew into a dangerous situation that could have been averted.

In order to make sure investigations of fatal aviation accidents are conducted accurately and thoroughly, families of plane crash victims may want to consult an attorney who knows how to protect the interests of those who have been harmed by negligent airplane manufacturers, airline companies, pilots or other parties.
