USAir Flight 1493/Skywest Flight 5569 Runway Collision — On February 1, 1991, USAir Flight 1493 and Skywest Flight 5569 collided at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) when the Skywest turbo-prop plane was cleared to hold its position prior to take off and the US Air Boeing 737 was cleared to land onto the same runway.
